Hello all.

As the topic says I will be detailing what I have been up to in the NWN2 world as a Wizard. I will update it when I have been playing. It will be kept short-ish detailing anything I think funny or interesting as I go along. I will not give anything away regarding the main story line etc. It will be biased upon what I liked/do not like about the game and whats cool about being a wizard. (and a few wee tips for future wizards.)


Day 1 will start on this sat.

i just hope the game is sweet (and that the wizards are still the coolest charaters!!)

hope it runs well. sometimes the minium system requirements just lie!!!

Yup... I have a 2.8p4, radeon 9600pro 256mb and a gig of ram and have to run it at 800x600 with most eye candy off. Sorry for the thread highjack.. Back to your regular scheduled wizard blog.!

at work all day today. then out at night. so it will start tomorrow... just wondering how well it will run.... gulp

10k RPM HDD

the game runs great without shadows

low shadows, some things on, decent . . .

once we get to medium shadows, we get unacceptable choppiness . . . perhaps the areas I am making are complex and detailed, I dunno, but seems same in single player

everything turned way up? good for one thing - screenshots

I have a Duo Core 2.0 GHz, 1GB of RAM with a nvidia Geforce 7900 GS 256MB RAM.

I get some choppiness, going to give the shadows a miss a see what happens..

Blog 1: Suitable for READER ABOVE LEVEL 6 ><><<><><><

This is a blog about what i think of the game, as a wizard, nothing more nothing less.

Levels 1-6 (if you are not up to level 6 DO NOT READ AS there will be spoilers!! About the plot etc.

Level 1-3:
After that cool introduction you cant wait to get going!
So I make my magical woman and begin in the tutorial town. It was almost a novel way of getting you to learn how to play the game. The only thing that I hated in this area was that the same music was on repeat. (the section of music was 20s long. So after playing for 5mins I had to turn off the music!!.

From what I can see it is very similar to NWN1. (which is a good thing) the skill system, feats etc.. has changed very little. The usual spells are all here with a few new additions. (a bit disappointed here. Could have done with some MORE spells etc.) the spells are pretty enough to watch.
You battle your way through the tough challenges!! Yeah right! Then go on to win the cup. (with its healing I still us it even at level 6! So it’s a not bad wee prize Lol.

After the tutorial: MORE SPOLIERS (level 3-4)

The real action beings once the town is attacked. This is where it beings to feel like you are playing baldurs gate rather than NWN. With NWN I always got the feeling it was down to luck whether you won or lost a battle and in baldurs gate it was down to using your team. It seems like the spells have changed very little with magical missile being the best at low levels (for attacking) and summoning creatures to act as fodder it always useful.
You get sent on your first wee quest and it is quite good fun going on your first dungeon raid!!


MORE SPOLIERS (up to level 5-6 now)
A few bandit camps later and before you know it your in Neverwinter!! Those pesky thugs wont leave the hard working people alone!!. So its up to you to save the day! The wizard class is beginning to show their power here. With a few fireballs and a few summoned creatures then you can deal with most situations. As with all games the middle section is almost always the best. The wizard is starting to become leet. (after being pretty much useless till level 3-4)

made it to level 7 then called it a night. was a good weekend of playing

So far:

+ More teamwork
+ Pretty
+ Addictive

-Takes too long to get to Neverwinter
-Nothing that new: skills, spells
-Not enough prestige classes.



I hear you cry! Why no mention of the toolset… why why why?... well. My plan is to play the game through to learn what I like and don’t like then I can start having fun with it! Had a quick play about with it and it seems good. The only problem with it is that it will suck your time away faster than playing championship manager!!!

Hehehe...very nice....I have just entered Act 2 Storyline is very good so far and keeps me going as I want to know about my past.

Animation of the characters are much better than NWN1. Agree with the spells, etc, but they do have most of the spells from the 3.5 rules.

I cannot as when I minimise the game it takes about 45 secs to do it and then 45 secs again to bring the game back up
